The Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) is a premier institution established by the Government of India in 1927 for promoting the sustainable development of the Water Resources, Power and Renewable Energy Sectors. During its distinguished journey of nearly a century, CBIP has served as a leading platform for knowledge dissemination, capacity building, professional development and stakeholder engagement. Through conferences, seminars, workshops, training programmes and over 1,500 technical publications, CBIP has made significant contributions to the growth and modernization of these vital sectors.
Over the years, CBIP has evolved into an institution of national and international importance, bringing together policymakers, utilities, industry, academia, consultants and professionals. The organization serves as the headquarters, secretariat or coordinating body for several prestigious national and international professional organizations, including the Indian National Committee on Large Dams (INCOLD), Tunnelling Association of India (TAI), International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM-India), International Geosynthetics Society (IGS-India), Indian National Hydropower Association (INHA), CIGRE India, and the Society of Power Engineers (SPE). Through these associations, CBIP promotes international cooperation, technology exchange and dissemination of global best practices.
As it approaches its Centenary Year in 2027, CBIP continues to serve as a trusted institution of national importance, dedicated to supporting India's sustainable growth and infrastructure development.

Invitation for Empanelment of Experts in Power including RE and Water Resources Sectors
CBIP undertakes assignments related to Technical and Safety Audits of Thermal, Hydro, Solar, and Wind Power Plants as well as Substations of all capacities. In addition, CBIP provides expert support to utilities across various domains of the Power and Water sectors.
To effectively execute these assignments, CBIP invites fresh applications from experienced professionals and domain experts in the Power and Water sectors. Experts will be engaged on a need basis, and a professional fee will be paid as per CBIP norms for each assignment.
Experts who are already empanelled with CBIP are also requested to submit a fresh application to facilitate updating of the expert database.
